Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) is a gritty, realistic reboot of the iconic sub-series, designed to reflect the complexities of 21st-century conflict. Shifting away from the stylized action of the original trilogy, the game features a visceral single-player campaign where players take on the roles of Tier One operators and freedom fighters—including the return of Captain John Price—to recover stolen chemical weapons and stop a global terror threat. The story introduces the fictional country of Urzikstan and focuses on “grey area” rules of engagement, emphasizing moral ambiguity and tactical realism.
