Need for Speed Heat is an open-world street racer set in Palm City, a neon-soaked fictionalized version of Miami. The game features a unique “Hustle by Day, Risk it All at Night” mechanic: during the day, you compete in the sanctioned Speedhunters Showdown to earn “Bank” for car parts and customization. Once the sun sets, you enter illicit street races to build “Rep,” but you’ll have to contend with a rogue police task force that becomes increasingly aggressive as your Heat level rises. With 127 cars from 33 manufacturers (including the return of Ferrari) and deep engine-swapping mechanics, Heat is often cited as a modern peak for the franchise’s customization and cop-chase gameplay.
